LouLou has landed - Nov 17 LouLou has been adopted by a loving couple, Tom and Patti and has moved to a small Ontario Hamlet. Trees, parks and a quiet neighbourhood now greet LouLou on her daily walks. Their daughter as a pug, Tito who regularly comes for visits. At first, Tito was a little shy of LouLou but her charming personality is winning him over |

Foster Update - November 11 "LouLou returned to the vet for her vaccinations & a repeat her blood work last Friday. She's lost a pound and her blood work came back perfect. The vitamins must have helped to resolve her slightly low red blood cell count. She walks like a dream on leash. She doesn't pull or sniff and she keeps pace beautifully. She could teach her foster siblings a thing or two. She's also a very dainty girl when it comes to receiving her treats. LouLou took in a visit to my sisters to see how she'd get along with the two resident cats. LouLou and the cats had a healthy respect for each others space and a growing sense of curiosity. They got closer and closer as the night wore on. They watched each other intently but neither seemed sure how to break the ice. Based on this visit, I'm confident LouLou would work well in a home with cats. Her house training is about 90% complete. The pee pad rarely gets used these days but she still has the occasional accident after breakfast. LouLou shines when she's on the receiving end of some one on one attention. She's going to make a lovely companion dog." LouLou is a sweet, bouncy, alert girl who’s eager to make new friends. Her whole rear end wags from side to side if you so much as talk to her. She travels well in the car, enjoys exercise, playtime and shadowing her family. |
Adopter Requirements - Oct 29 LouLou is a little over weight so her new family will need to make sure she gets enough exercise and limits her food intake. She may sound winded when she exerts herself. This will improve as she looses weight. She doesn’t consider fruit or veggies food but she’s fond of liver or no grain treats. Treats are good motivation for her house training. She’s improved during her stay but expect a transition period. She needs to be let out promptly following a meal to prevent an accident. Her ears need to be cleaned regularly to prevent yeast infections. The vet also recommended an occasional wipe below the tail with baby wipes to keep the girl at her freshest. She just started taking some vitamins to deal with mild anemia. LouLou simply must be the canine boss and for this reason, I’d recommend she be the only dog. As with most pugs, LouLou is never far behind her humans. She’s happiest curled up by your side, at your feet or in your bed. She’d fair well in a home where she’s not left alone for long periods. |

Foster Update - Oct 24 “LouLou has settled in nicely. This includes letting the pack know she’s the boss. Occasionally, sparks fly when her foster siblings are not accepting of this hierarchy. For this reason, I think LouLou would be best as an only dog. She is a girl who’s eager to please and she’s becoming more responsive to commands each day. Like many pugs she can’t just wiggle her tail but instead wiggles her whole back end. Loulou is a mid sized pug. Surprisingly, she will often not finish her meal and will leave kibble behind in her bowl. She doesn’t mind if one of her foster siblings helps themselves. She prefers to curl up around your head in the big bed and if you won’t mind, she’s more than happy to go under the covers. One cool night at the cottage she snuggled in close all night with her head gently resting on my pillow. She loves to find a warm lap on the couch but she’s less at ease being held in your arms. Accidents in the house and use of the pee pads are becoming less frequent. The key is to get her outside promptly after a meal. Poor Rocky; his beloved blanket has been mistaken for a pee pad a few times. Unfortunately, it’s the right shape and it’s on the floor after all. Loulou is going for her wellness check with the vet today. Follow up shots will be done in a few weeks.” |

Introduction - October 10 “LouLou is a bouncy, affectionate girl who likes to play and at the end of the day she’s content to curl up at your feet. Her princess tendencies are becoming apparent. She needs more beauty sleep than her foster siblings and she simply must have a little moist food with her kibble. She’s a gentle lady when accepting her treats. She gives me the strangest look when I offer fruits & veggies. If she could talk I think she’d say you MUST be kidding. She’s pleasantly round girl with a plush youthful coat and a sunny disposition. She likes to sit up high on the back of the couch and sleep in the big bed (any big bed or couch will do). She’ll lull you to sleep with the comforting sound of puggy snores. She’s pee pad trained and is also using the outdoors. Once she’s had more time to settle in, I’ll schedule a wellness check with the vet.” |
