Bob has been adopted - June 14 Bob has been adopted by a young and energetic couple with no children who have a lot of time to devote to Bob. They are eager to learn everything that Bob will need to grow into a wonderful adult pug. They are working on perfecting Bob's training and continuing to help Bob with his marking issues (which he is well on his way with!).They hit it off well with Bob right away and I know that Blanche and I made the best choice for Bob's new family. We hope to see them out to a few pugalug events and have all ready starting visiting the off leash parks that many of the Pugalug members visit in Toronto. Here is a picture of Bob and his new family! |

Bob is beginning to settle down very nicely with our family. He is becoming accustom to our routines and is listening to our commands (listening, thinking about them but not yet ready/willing to follow most of them quite yet). Bob generally gets along well with our pugs but likes to be the dominate one. He can at times get a little aggressive with the other pugs but he will usually back down from them once he has got them going. Bob absolutely hates cats and this is were we see an aggressive side to him. His easy go lucky personality changes dramatically and he becomes this fierce barking maniac of a dog that is very hard to control when on a lead. I would not at this point trust Bob around a cat if he was not a leash. The marking issue is starting to see some improvement but I think it will be a little while longer before we will be able to take the belly band off. Bob had his Vet visit today and our Vet was quite happy with his overall health. She reviewed all of Bob's previous medical records and gave him a very in depth physical exam and accessed Bob to be a healthy dog. Bob does have an old corneal scar in the dorsal aspect of his left eye with vascularization that appears to be resolving on its own so it is not a concern at this time. His weight is up from a very skinny looking 18 pounds to 21.4 lbs so we are happy to report that he is looking much better, ideally I would like to see him at around 22 pounds. Bob received his scheduled dose of Interceptor and has 2 more doses for the months of June and July. So for the next few weeks we will continue to work on the manners, house training issues and walking on a lead. Requirements for Bob: - no cats! |

Foster Update - April 22 Bob arrived mid afternoon on Saturday March 19 after a very long transport from Kansas, USA. Bob is a very busy pug that is full of personality. He is a larger pug but is very under weight (will know exact weight after his Vet visit) and needs to put on some weight. He is a good eater and has no aggression issues around food and we have seen no aggression problems at all.Bob is a great pug but has very little behaviour training. He is a jumper, he will jump up onto tables and will jump over 36" high baby gates and x-pens. He is very high energy, he is very curious and likes to get into everything! He was very good for a day or two with having no accidents in the house but now that he has settled in, he has started to mark in the house so he is wearing a belly band until we can get his marking under control. He gets along very well with our gang of pugs and loves to be with people. He loves belly rubs, a good play with the other pugs and has more energy than he knows what to do with. Like Gus, he likes to be with someone all the time. He has become Dave's shadow and follow him everywhere that he goes. When Dave is not home he quickly finds anyone of else to follow. He tends to get under foot a lot and does not know very many commands. He will come when called but that is it, so we will work on this. Gus does not like to be alone! He will not sleep by himself and will whine, cry and bark until he gets to sleep
with someone (does not seem to care who) so for now he is sharing a bed with Gus. We have nicknamed Bob "Sideshow Bob"
because he never leaves your side for very long and he is always doing something weird or funny. |

Introduction - April 19 Bob is coming to us from Prairie Pugs Rescue in Kansas. They reported that Bob was given up by owner and taken to the local shelter. The shelter was going to put him down because he was aggressive. What we found out is that Bob was TERRIFIED!!!. At the shelter they had to take the crate apart to get him out of it. Once we got Bob, he was just a love muffin. He was no longer afraid. We will have a foster update and pictures in a couple of days |
