360 pugs rescued since October, 2005
Bruce - 6 year old male

Dispatch from the Forever Home - Nov 15

Hi, it’s Bruce here.

I am having a great time at my forever home. I sleep with my humans and follow them all around. They even play with me when I feel like playing. I love to play fetch. I think I am on my way to training them well. They are always petting me and cuddling with me, and of course you know how much I love that. :)

They take me for walks, and I even went out for a short walk in the rain this morning, under my mom human’s umbrella. I think I am going to love being here.

Thanks to my friends at pugalug for finding me a loving home.

Ruff Ruff,

Bruce

Requirements:

Bruce has healed nicely from his surgery and the vet confirmed that the 'mass' removed from his lip was just a benign polyp and is nothing to worry about, so he is ready to find his forever family.

Bruce loves his daily walks and playing fetch. He has not trouble with stairs and is extremely agile. He loves to travel in the car and go where you go. He travelled to Haliburton without a peep! Bruce is a very slim pug so you may have to watch that he doesn't lose weight (LOL!) He loves all other dogs, cats, kids and seniors (particularly my father).

As with most pugs, he loves to be with his people, so a home where he would have limited alone time would be ideal. Bruce is fairly quiet, but does bark from time to time. He was a marker when he first came, but has not had any accidents in the past two weeks now that he knows our routine.

Bruce has been an absolute joy to foster! If I didn't have a houseful already, he'd be a keeper!!!!!!!

Foster Update - Oct 11

Bruce is recovering nicely from his neuter, dental (removal of 5 teeth) and removal of a warty mass on his lip. This lovely boy will be spending the Thanksgiving weekend in the Highlands of Haliburton and will be available for adoption in the near future.

Foster Update - Sept. 30

Bruce is settling nicely with my gang. He left a couple of 'marks' during his first 24 hours, but has since stopped and figured out which door to go to when he wants out. He has not barked yet, but has made a couple of interesting 'wooo woooo's' in the back yard.

Bruce is extremely friendly and loves to hop up on the couch for a cuddle, or just follow me around the house. When he get excited, he runs around in circles chasing his tail. He enjoys his walks, squatting to pee and travels well in the car.

Transporter's Report - Sept 26

They are a hoot! Picked them up at 8 a.m. and brought them home for the day before transporting to their foster homes. They were great in the car but since I got them home, they have been busy, busy, busy. Bruce is an energizer bunny and chases his tail when he gets excited. You always know where Winnie is because she sounds like a motorboat; she's either motorboating when excited or chatting. They explored every inch of the back yard, marking their presence and then came indoors and explored. I think they are lovely, exuberant velcro pugs but a little undisciplined. Quite good at begging!

Bruce is very underweight and I doubt he is more than about 17 or 18 lbs despite his long body. He may have some allergies as he scratches when you touch him near the bottom of his back. Winnie has obviously had multiple litters as her teats hang low and there is no muscle tone in her belly. Her little tongue hangs out to the right side just a bit. Lots of expression in both sets of eyes.

They are very social with each other and with people. No shyness at all and very curious. Bruce in particular gets bent out of shape if you pick another dog up and jumps up for attention, but is not all that keen on being held (at least not yet). In fact, they both seem almost starved for attention. They are getting on well with my gang, lots of butt sniffing and no aggression. They even had a playtime together, the 2 of them, much to the bewilderment of my pugs who mostly don't understand the concept of playfighting with other dogs.

At the moment, Bruce and Winnie have finally settled down at my feet, looking up at me, tails a-waggin' and jumping up expectantly every time I move a muscle. Bruce not only plays catch with a ball but brings it back and drops it on the command "drop".
