Chloe - Snuggled in her forever home - December 16, 2006

When Chloe came for her home visit she immediately went searching and found Tibi's food bowl. She then went and checked out Christine's ear scratching ability, gave 2 year old Lucas a good sniff and followed pug pal Tibi outside. Chloe then pronounced that she had found her forever home. She will be enjoying many days of love and care from Christing, Jim, Lucas and Tibi.

Adoption Fee - $300

Chloe is a gentle natured pug who enjoys cuddling close and quietly purring her contentment. She would fit into a household that had other dogs or be happy on her own. She is capable of being left alone for the day - but will need your full attention when you return.

Chloe weighs 23 lbs. She is an active pug, enjoying running from smell to smell in the park or going for a long walk on quiet streets. She does get nervous when large urban vehicles go by so it woul be best to avoid major streets on the daily walks

Due to the Stuvite Crystals that formed inside Chloe, she is on Science Diet C/D. Her diet will have to regulated along with regular blood and urine checks to ensure the crystals do not return.

Foster Update, Dec. 5

Well I think our little Chloe is a country girl. She is not used to the large urban vehicles like trucks and buses. When we are on the quiet side streets, she is hopping along sniffing her and there, a tight curly tail bouncing along. When we get to a major street and a truck rumbles by, she gets all skittish, the tail droops and she paces away from the road. But she loves the park and will go up to great the other dogs and people in the park - then go dashing after some other smell.

I was quite proud of her at Pug Claus this past Sunday. She was pretty much on her own the whole 2 hours, flirting here and there with people and pugs alike. I had put a sign on her back with her name and "No Treats". She must have wondered why everyone else was "gettin' it". But whenever I called her she would immediatly come over and sit by my foot. Chloe is not much of a kisser but loves to get close and take comfort in knowing you are beside her.

Foster Update, Dec. 3rd, 2006

Chloe, an 7 year old female, came to us from Prairie Pugs Rescue in Kansas, USA where she was surrender by her owner. She was observed has having trouble urinating and an x-ray indicated urinary bladder stones (struvite crystals) Chloe had surgery to remove the stones (see picture below) and made a healthy recover. She also had 1 molar removed and some tartar clean up. She was put on a strict diet of Science Diet CD - no treats, fruits or vegetables - in order to prevent the return of the crystals. The stones were sent to a lab for examination and the results were:
Magnesium Phosphate Hexahydrate - stone 100%, shell 10%
Calcium Oxalate Monohydrate - shell 10%
Struvite crystals are caused by a bacterial infection. I will be working on building Chloe's immune system in order to prevent future infections from occuring.

Thanks and Pug Slurps to Alison and Randy for bringing Chloe and her PPR companion pugs to us.
Chloe integrated well with our "pack". The first night here was spent quietly getting to know Dante, Dublin and Odin, along with her new environment. There was no signals of dominance or agreession from any of the four. Because of this she found her place on the bed, snuggle up to me and promptly started snoring away.

She is full of energy and loves to run with short little bursts of speed. Then she will scout over to a tree as she catches a new scent.
