360 pugs rescued since October, 2005
Dodger - 2 year old male

Adopted - July 22

Dodger is staying right where he is. His foster mom, Sigrid, fell in love with the charm, exhuberance, cuddles and well mannered pug that Dodger showed himself to be. (He put up with the 3 weeks of puppy Opie - playing with him, dutifully showing him the puggy ropes of life). Sigried realized that this was the pug to be her caninie companion in life. They go for long walks, exploring the city and enjoying each other's company.

Dodger says to Opie "now, that is how you lick the face of your mentor".

Dodger shows he can get along quite nicely with a cat..

Foster Update, June 28

Dodger had his first vet visit yesterday and from what they can see so far all looks well. We are waiting on the fecal sample results.

When Dodger came to us he was on medication to control his hyper activity. His vet visit included a discussion on taking him off the medication Upon the vet's recommendation his foster mom is starting to cut down his medication to 1/2 a pill in the morning for 2 weeks. The next two weeks after that I will give him 1/2 pill every other day.

He is not on heart worm medication but we will leave that up to the future adoptive parents. Apart from that he is doing well and loves to have something to chew on. In the park, Dodger, living up to his name, loves to chase and fetch a ball, bring in back and drop it at your feet. Given his activity level, sense of play, and current training, he may be fine with agility or dog sports of some kind.

Introduction - June 21st

Dodger has come into our care due to the owner's having a 1 year old child and another baby due in December. Because of Dodger's high energy level, they made a very difficult decision to find him a home more suitable to his personality.

Yes, Dodger loves to play - toys, rope tug, other dogs - he is in for the game. We met Doder and his foster mom, Sigrid, today just after he came to her. He immediatley initiated play with both Dublin and Odin. There was no sign of dominance, agression or uneasiness - just pure play interaction. He is well socialized, knows his basic commands and is healthy and up to date on his vaccinations.

He has a lovely double curl in his tail, well muscled, lean, and a little on the large size. He does have a tendency to softly nibble on your hand. This will be investigated to determine whether it is just transitional or if there is some training that needs to be done.

Sigrid will have an update for us in a few days, once Dodger has had a chance to settle in.
