Happy Tails, January 30, 2011

Finnegan has stolen the hearts of his foster family with his cute and quirky ways and it became very clear that he has found his furever home with us. He has become very attached to our resident pug Taz. It's a wonderful bond they have formed and where you find one pug the other is not far behind. Finnegan has had his dental work done as well as a lump removed and further tests done show no more crystals present and was given a clean bill of health. We are happy to welcome Finnegan as a permanent member of our family.

Foster Update, December 23, 2010

Finnegan is doing well and continues be a ball of energy. We are currently working on resolving the struvite crystal condition he has, however, the good news is that there is no infection present. We have started to add cranberries to his meals to in order to acidify his urine a bit. We did a test to measure his ph levels and the result was 6.5 which we have been advised is good. We will continue to monitor his levels. He has a small lump on his back leg that will require removing, but for now we are keeping a close eye on it to make sure there is no change in shape or size.

Finnegan is quite funny, good -natured and a bit of a character, he spins around and yelps and is very vocal when he is playing alone or with our resident pug Taz. It's hard not to laugh at the sounds that come out of this little guy. He is definitely a snuggler who will stop at nothing to find a vacant lap and takes no for an answer.

He doesn't seem to care for the cold weather, but has not made any mistakes in the house for a very long time, he go outside to do his business and then quickly returns into the house, where he is rewarded with a small treat.

Overall, Finnegan is a very sweet boy and a joy to have around. We will have another update after the holidays.

Foster Update, November 9, 2010

Finnegan is doing well since he has been with us in foster care. He is a very busy and active boy. He had a few mistakes in the house when he first arrived, probably due to a new environment and stress but that is no longer an issue. He now lets us know when he wants to go outside. He gets along with our resident dog Taz and even tries to engage him in play. He seems to be ok with other dogs that we have met on our walks. He does seem a little on the nervous side, but hopefully in time that will go away. He is the true definition of a lap dog. When on the coach he prefers to sit on our laps rather than anywhere else.

He really likes going for walks and does not tire easily. He had his first public appearance at the Pugoween and he was a hit and seemed to enjoy himself and found many laps to sit in.

Overall, he has been a delight as a houseguest. He goes for his next vaccine on November 24th, and will have another update following that visit.
