Gypsy Rose (aka Spanky) - almost 6 year old female

Family Update: Gypsy or Miss Bossy?

After just a couple days, our Miss Gypsy is already whipping us boys into line. She makes us understand what she wants, and it is our job to attend to those desires.. :) Gypsy gets us up at the crack of dawn, to go and enjoy the morning while her Dad and pug brother Cash are still half asleep. She loves our morning walks and taking in the sun while the air is still cool. Putting a soft bed in a shady spot on the balcony sits just fine with her for afternoons, She has taken over Dad's spot on the couch in the evening. So all's right with the world and at this rate Misss Bossy will have us all trained by the end of the week. We're pleased as punch to have this gal in our house... :)

Welcome Gypsy Rose, to her new family!

Gypsy Rose's first adoption didn't work out, but she was scooped up by Ross and Chris! Ross had been interested in Gypsy, from the start. It just wasn't good timing, but that has changed!

Congratulations to Ross and Chris and Gypsy's new fur brother Cash.

I think this was meant to be all along!

We'll miss you Gypsy girl!

Hugs from your foster brothers, Salvador, Mookie and Mocha.

Foster Update

Gypsy Rose has settled in quite nicely, after three weeks in foster care. She is a happy, affectionate girl. She gets along well with my pugs and cat. She enjoys going to the dog park and is happy to wander around and greet people and other dogs. She is totally house-trained and doesn't get into any mischief around the house.

Gypsy's blood work came back and is all very good. She was given a full thyroid panel because they had thought her weight (43 lbs. a year ago!) might have been a thyroid issue. She has since lost much of that weight and is 29 lbs. She should still lose some weight, but has a large frame and will always weigh more than a smaller pug. The thyroid panel showed that she is borderline for early hypothyroid. They suggested retesting her every 6 months, to see if it changes. The vet felt that good quality food and weight reduction may prevent any change in the thyroid levels.

Gypsy is a bit pushy around food and still grabs treats roughly. We have been working on her learning "gentle', but she needs treats given in an open palm so your fingers aren't chomped on. This is the reason why she shouldn't be around young children. She would do best with just one other dog, to make mealtime easier to deal with. She gets so excited and needs to eat a few feet from the other dog. She is not at all aggressive towards people and you can easily intervene if she gets too close to the other dog at mealtime. She barks and carries on until she gets her food! That really is the only time she makes noise, well maybe a bit when getting ready for going to the park!

Gypsy seems to really like having men in her life. When my 28 yr. old son comes in the house, she gets really excited. This girl deserves a loving home that will give her lots of cuddles and attention.

Foster Update - May 1

The start of a new life begins with a new name. So meet Gypsy Rose.
She will be 6 years old in June.

Foster Update - April 29

Spanky seems to be quite happy to check out the house and yard. She is very friendly and seems a bit excited to be here. She is fine with my pugs and easily goes to all the people. We will have more about her, when we get her checked out at the vet and she has been here a few days.

Introduction - April 28

Spanky is an easy going and fun loving pug who was surrendered to us because the owner had to move out of the country.
