Harley - 4 year old male

Harley has gone to his forever home - March 2nd

Harley went to his forever home on Sunday. I think it was worth the wait, because I think this was the right home for him. After his home visit, Dave had his brother over to fix up the fence. It was all done in a week. His new mom and dad are very calm, easy-going people and will have the patience to deal with Harley's quirks.

They brought "his pillow" that he claimed when we were at the home visit. They had his new harness and leash. When they left they were going to fit him for a Harley Davidson collar. The whole family was coming over Sunday night to meet the Harley man.

Our whole family will miss Harley. He has a huge personality and has left a hole in our home. He is a great little man. He deserves the loving forever home his new family will give him.

Foster Report - February 18

The home visit went well but our foster volunteer, Christine, had concerns with the safety of the back yard - holes in the fence, debris under the porch. The potential adopters are going to spend the next couple of weeks getting the backyard up to safety standards for Harley. In addition, references need to be provided and checked. We will have another update at that time.

Harley has another home visit

Unfortunately, the family that was going to adopt Harley has had to change their plans. However, he has a new home visit planned for Saturday the 16th. This was an applicant who also wanted to adopt this sweet little guy. We will bring you an update next week.

Harley has been adopted - Dec 18

Harley had a successful home visit. However, before he goes to his new home, his adopter will be putting up safety gates outside. They live on a busy and there was a concern that Harley could accidentally get out and run out on to the street. Once the gates are up in a couple of weeks, Harley will be heading to his forever home and we will have his Happy Tail for you.

On a health note, Christine had noticed that Harley was lifting his leg more often then usual. She arranged for a uninalysis. He has a mild urine infection and calcium oxalate crystals. His is on medication and a special diet including lots of water. We may wait until his urine comes back clean before finalizing the adoption

Foster Update - Dec 1

Harley has a home visit on December 8th with a potential adopter. We will bring you an update that weekend.

One lovable pug is ready for you

He is a very friendly, happy, loving little boy. He is happy going for walks and hikes or hanging out being a couch potato, as long as he is with you. He loves to sleep on the bed with you. You will never be lonely with the Harley-man as your buddy. He can't be crated. Due to his past history, he doesn't handle it well at all.

He would be better in a detached house as opposed to an apt. or townhouse. He has some separation anxiety issues and tends to bark a lot when left alone.

Harley is great with other dogs, small and large. He loves large ones. He also is fine with cats. He is great with kids and people in general. Rarely, he can show a bit of dog to aggression over food or toys towards dogs, not people.

If you take Harley into your home, the love you give will be returned ten-fold. He needs a forever home with someone with a lot of love and patience and gentle kindness.

Foster Update, May 31

Harley is doing well. Eating well. Sleeps on our bed. Good with other dogs and my daughter. Had green paws first day from following around cutting the grass.
We really won't see his true personality for another couple of weeks. He is still transitioning, wanting to assert his place and enjoy his new found freedom.

In the few days he has been in foster:

He does not like being in a crate and you cant' really blame him.
Will bark non-stop if you put him in one.
Will come when he is called. Good with other dogs but a bit dominant when it comes to food - human or dog.
Will chase other dogs away if fridge is open. There has been some challenge of pack order but he does back down from other dogs.

He is also a little toy possive. Most of time will still play with him. (my bosses lab X who outweighs him by 30 Lbs. avoids Harley.
Sleeps on the bed thru nite. He has been marking in the house.

We will be working on all of these behaviour issues as we prepare him to go from a life in cage to a carefree and loving Pug

Barnaby is a very good loving dog. Follows you everywhere. A bit of separation anxiety. Will bark if can see you and not be with you. (Anoteher issue we are working on)>

Harley man is a good boy. We are having fun with him.

He is going in for his heartworm check today. We will take a few pictures of him soon
