Hercules - 6 Year Old Male

Hercules

Happy Tails

Hercules has blended so smoothly into our home and lifestyle. He definitely has the sweetest nature I think I have ever seen in a dog. He is extremely gentle and has the funniest personality. We have already taught him several new tricks and he is so proud to perform. He gets along beautifully with our teacup Yorkie and if we go out and leave them, they are sound asleep on the couch when we return. Hercules has met the neighbourhood dogs as well. He loves to sleep and definitely isn't an early riser, which is a good thing around here. Mostly he seems to absolutely love being around somebody, so with our large family, there is always a lap available for him to cuddle up on.

Adopted

Hercules is a very large, 6 year old boy. He is full of love and loves to be near his people all the time (if possible). He also really enjoys the company of other dogs. Hercules loves to talk to get his point across. If you like perfect dogs, Hercules is the man for you.

Hercules is on a Grain Free kibble. He, enjoys fresh fruits and vegetables, very much.

Hercules loves to meet new people and dogs and to date there hasn't been one that he hasn't gotten along with. If another dog is assertive with him however, he instantly looks to his people to defend him. He does not defend himself.

He requires a house with a fenced yard. His preference also is to go to a home with another dog. Hercules does walk well on leash and loves to walk for miles and miles if given the opportunity. Now that the weather has been a bit nicer, he loves to find a sunny spot in the yard and sunbathe.

He is a very funny little man, who loves nothing more than to sit and cuddle. He is fantastic company and there really isn't a home situation that he wouldn't fit in to. He likes nothing more than to be loved and hang with his 'peeps'.

Foster Update, April 10, 2014

Hercules continues to be perfect (in my eyes). He walks well on a leash, he is gentle with food and has had no accidents in the house. He likes all other dogs that he meets (and even people too). Now that the weather is a bit warmer, he really enjoys going outside and finding sun to sit in. As long as he finds sun, he will stay outside for hours. He has become a bit more vocal lately....one of the houses that backs onto ours has a Neopolitan Mastiff that appears to spend most of his time outside barking and Hercules likes to talk back to him. He is still in love with Kitty and also loves following myself and my kids around the house. He is a total gem of a boy and anyone would be lucky to have him!

Foster Update, March 19, 2014

Hercules is a gem of a boy. He is beyond easy to have around and loves all other dogs and people that he encounters. He spent a lot of time winning over his foster sister, Kitty and it paid off. They are now inseparable.

He is completely house-trained and has not had an accident since he arrived here. However, he can snore like a champ (but for only the first few minutes after he has fallen asleep). He was previously reported to be a major barker, but to date we have only heard him bark on a few occasions and only for a short period of time.

When people come to the door, he never rushes the front door and would never try to escape....he enjoys being with his people and the other dogs in the house and has no interest in leaving.

Once the little man has his dental he will be ready to find his forever home.

Introduction, February 10, 2014

Hercules is a fawn male who will be 6 years old on March 2nd. He is an owner surrender and supposedly a continuous barker and exceptionally loud snorer. To date, we have only heard him bark once (during the Superbowl) and he stopped right away. We also haven't heard much in terms of snoring from the boy yet, but I guess time will tell.

He is a very big boy for a pug....not the usual chubby pug, but tall and long and solid. The vet has said that he should lose about 2 pounds to be his ideal weight. He loves routine and has adjusted to ours very well. He eats twice a day and he has adjusted to eating his dinner at the later time of 6pm versus his original 5:30pm.

Hercules loves all of the other dogs in the house, particularly Kitty (but she is playing hard to get). He is also amazing with my kids and any and all people who come to the house. When he went to the vet, the vet made a couple of comments on what a good boy he is and the back room techs also came out to tell me what a sweet boy he is and how good he was for his microchipping and blood work. He paid no attention to the cat at the vet's office either.

He loves to play with the people in the house, but he would really like to play with a dog as well. Unfortunately, all the dogs in my house are far too old and sophisticated to play.

Basically, Hercules is a dream dog. First of all, it is so fun to yell "HERCULES!" and see him come running. He never jumps up on furniture or beds, even when invited. However, if you pick him up and put him on the couch, he is very happy to cuddle with you as long as you'll have him. He walks well on leash, travels well in the car and never has accidents in the house. He also has the biggest and most expressive eyes that I have ever seen. Hercules will make his future forever family very happy!
