360 pugs rescued since October, 2005
Hooper - 1.5 year old fawn male

Adopted - June 20

We just wanted to say thank you again for Hooper. He is an amazing Pug! It feels just like when we got Rosie. A beautiful fit to our family. He sat beside me all the way to Stouffville and then he and Rosie snuggled on the seat together as I drove home. The girls were so surprised when they opened the van door and found their two pugs there together. Hooper has become an immediate part of our family.

He has already brought us much laughter (his handstands are hilarious) and love (we've never been kissed so much-- and he has the tongue for it!). He has had absolutely no difficulties up to this point in his new home (even his "business" has all been outside -- Good Boy!).

He is drinking and eating well. No matter how much Rosie may love them, Hooper definitely does not like cucumber (although he does have to check it out every time Rosie has a piece). He remains cautious of the cats, but everyone is adjusting. He has had many walks and much loving in just one day. He makes Rosie so happy. There is nothing quite like watching two pugs play together. He is curled up on a cushion beside Rosie and Brenna on the couch as I write this note. Thank you sooooooo much!

Foster Update - May 9

Mr. Hooper has settled in nicely at his foster home and with the resident dogs. As active and on the go as the young fella is, he snoozes with the same enthusiasm. He loves his walkies, can hardly contain himself at chowtime and enjoys playing chase with our wee frenchie.

Hooper is very vocal when he is excited though he gets better every day with regard to bark, bark, barking for attention. He makes just a couple of squawks when put into his doggie condo (boxer-sized crate) when foster mummy heads out of the house for errands, then settles nicely into his beddie-bye. All is quiet upon returning home until Hooper hears his people and starts the protest for release. 90 seconds of racing around squealing and he is calm & happy as a clam. I should mention with regard to the barking that when everyone is home going about their business, Hooper is perfectly content and quiet.

Such a good boy, the little guy is ready to go just as soon as he gets through his neuter (June 11 if not sooner). He should live in a home rather than an apartment due to his times of noisemaking. He would also be best suited with someone who is home more often than not and/or he would do well as a go to work pal if that were an option. Hooper is a go with you everywhere type of rascal.

A very friendly, very happy dog. Hooper loves to be with his people and by with, that means physically touching somehow, whether it's sitting on a foot or lying on a shoulder. A gentle dog companion would be nice to keep him company and busy at playtime. That being said, he would likely very much enjoy being an only dog just as well; soaking up all the attention as per top dog status!

Hooper really likes all dogs, but is only slightly skittish when first meeting. He makes a lot of noise until he's given his new friend a good sniffing over. As well, Hooper seems to adore the children we've met while out walking.

Foster Update - April 27

I am pleased to be able to help out Pugalug Pug Rescue by taking on our first pug foster, Harvey. Since this name has already been taken at our home we felt a change would be best. We've already started calling him Hooper.

It's only been one day, but I thought I would let everyone know that he is doing very well. Also, I'm sure pictures are in order so I have attached a couple here. Mr. Hooper is clearly a bucket of happiness & energy. He definitely has some work to do in the potty training department; he lifts his little leg all over the show. I am confident that with the help of my own doggie crew, we will make great strides in teaching him how things work.

We will make an appt. with the doc this week to see about Hooper's overall wellbeing and whether we will be able to schedule his neuter.

Many thanks to Emma and Tim for delivering the little doll to our doorstep and sending him along with all kind of food, toys, gear and supplies. Much appreciated!

Hooper is enjoying the backyard & sunshine and wearing out the resident dogs. He is fast!
Bye for now,

Lesley & Hooper

Introduction Update - April 25

Harvey is a wonderful, loving dog who loves walks, playing and sleeping. He is very social and adores hugs, kisses and cuddles. He does need some obedience training and some reinforcement for potty training. Although he sleeps through the night, he will mark indoors when stressed. This stress seems to be a form of separation anxiety and is accompanied by continual barking when he is left alone. Because of the barking, he is being moved from an apartment foster situation to a single family dwelling with a foster mum who is home during the day. He is good with other dogs and fine with cats.

Harvey was diagnosed when young with respiratory issues which precluded his being neutered. However, he has been off medication for a year now and the vet has recommended we go ahead with the surgery. Harvey also has symptoms of allergies which we feel will be rectified now that he is off food with grains. His fur has already become softer and fuller.

Introduction - April 19

Harvey is an owner surrender. We will have pictures and an introduction in a couple of days once he has settled into his foster home
