Happy Tails

Well, I was picked up from that wonderful place that my foster mommy lived in by my new mommy and daddy and I arrived at a nice home with a big backyard. I could hear another puppy barking in the backyard so I went around the back to see who was calling me and I saw my new sister Pudgie. She was waiting at the gate for me wagging her tail and wanting to play immediately, and I was so excited to run around in my new backyard, with my new sister. I played outside for quite sometime and then my mommy and daddy took me and me and my sister Pudgie inside the house so I could see my new home and boy did I ever love to run around the house smelling everything and seeing my new bed with new toys!!! Pudgie and I played with our new toys together in the house until I started getting tired and so I laid down on my new mommy next to my new sister. I was exhausted from all the fun and Pudgie, mommy, daddy and I cuddled for the rest of the night and watched some t.v.

The next few days were full of long walks, visiting new parks, running around the backyard and lots of kisses and cuddling from my new family. I love my new home and new family and I know they love me too!! -Kimba

Pudgie, Jesse and I would like to say thank you to everyone that is involved with Kimba coming to our home. We love her so much and she is the best addition to our family. She is the sweetest puppy anyone could ask for and we are so grateful to have been chosen to adopt Kimba. I would also like to thank Trish for fostering Kimba and giving her a wonderful home to stay in, you are a foster angel and we will never forget all that you have done for Kimba.

As I sit here writing this email Kimba is lying on her new bed but with her face on top of my foot. We couldn't picture our lives without her, and are so grateful to have her in our family.

Thank you again for bringing Kimba into our lives.

Adopted! May 2, 2010

Kimba left our home this evening, and happily jumped into Everloure and Jessie's car, to start her new life with her "fur-sister" Pudgie. Kimba will have the best time in their home, with a big backyard, and weekends at the cottage.

Lucky Girl.

Home Visit Scheduled

kimba

Well the time has come for Kimba to venture onto the next and forever leg of her life, her bags are packed and she is waiting for her permanent home. She has been a bright light in our home, and a pleasure to get to know. She has been a very healthy girl, and has a great appetite. She gobbles her food down, only after she sits nicely. She is best left alone to eat, so all little fingers should leave her be, but believe me this only takes a minute or so.

Kimba is great with kids, but seeing she is still a baby herself, older children would be best. Kimba has gotten along well with our canine pack large and small, but a companion that isn't to hung up on sharing their toys is a must. Kimba loves her toys, she is still in the chewing stage so puppy safe chew toys are your best bet.

Kimba would only do well in a house with a fully fenced yard, as she is very active and needs the space to burn off some energy. We have crated Kimba when we are out, and at night. She loves her crate!!! If you are working folk, she'll need a dog walker for sure, if not you'll come home to a very frustrated wired dog. The best thing for Kimba would be only left for a few hours a day, and the rest of the time to be with her people. At our home she is able to go outside every 2 hours or so, therefore we haven't had any accidents. We go out every time with her so we know her bathroom habits very well.

Kimba has been a joy to work with. She needs a strong pack leader to keep on the straight and narrow. She is defiantly not for the first time dog owner, she's is very busy so her people have to be one step ahead of her at all times. She will play and retrieve for as long as your arm can take it. She will be the finishing touch to your family.

Foster Update, April 9, 2010

Kimba got her spay stitches removed yesterday, and her belly is healing nicely. She continues to do very well in foster care. She plays well with all our house dogs, big and small. Kimba seems to have two speeds, overdrive and sleep. By 7:30-8:00pm she is very content to crash on the couch, as long as she has a human to snuggle with.

She is learning some basic obedience, such as sit and stay. Her house training is great, but keeping her on a structured routine is key!! She is a joyful little creature, her zest for life brightens the cloudiest day!!!

Foster Update, March 27, 2010
Kimba has settled in so well to our household that she was able to be spayed today. The surgery went well, and she is at home enjoying the extra attention. She had her last baby tooth removed as it was very wigggly. I guess she's a big girl now!!

She was also microchipped. The vets had a good chance to check out her knees, they're a little luxating (loose), but they don't seem to give any trouble on a day to day basis, as she can clear a baby gate in a single bound.

The only thing she's not to thrilled with is the cone she has to wear to keep her from licking her stitches. We told her not to worry, and that maybe she could pick up the animal planet channel!!!!

Foster Update, March 23, 2010

Kimba is the happiest dog we have ever met. Within a few hours she was part of our pack, as well as part of our hearts. Her first evening with us was very busy as she spent a lot of time checking out her new surroundings. If she couldn't convince a person or dog to play with her that was no problem, she entertained herself by throwing her toy and running after it...Now that's a smart puppy! Her first night in her crate went very well she was off to sleep, right through until morning.

Today, she had her first vet visit. She had her vaccinations, and a check-up. We'll wait until she settles in to book her spay surgery. Kimba is a warm, funny and well adjusted little soul. Now it's time for all of us to curl up and watch a movie, dogs and people alike.

Meet Kimba. Kimba was taken to Toronto Animal Services as a stray and is probably 6 months old. We think she is a pug/boston cross. She is very sweet, but very busy. She will certainly keep her foster folks entertained!! There will be more info on this little girl as she settles in.
