Luke has settled in quite nicely. He and Darth get along well, no fighting at all. Even when one has a bone, no lunging or snapping at the other!! At feeding time they are respectful and don't bother each other. Playing with Luke is great; he has more stamina than Darth although they haven't been able to figure out playing together yet. Luke really likes to sit on someone's lap all of the time - he is such a cuddly guy. He and Darth go out on the leash together really well. Luke pulls a bunch but is getting used to me asking him to wait while I pick up after him! He has had no accidents in the house at all and has been an amazing little friend! He barked at the horses when he first saw them, but has gotten used to them already! He does sometimes pop up his head or growl when he hears a noise that is unfamiliar to him but even that is getting less now as he gets used to things. He is a great little guy and I can't thank you enough for bringing him into our lives!!

Luke is a delightful 2.5 year old pug. He came to us from Toronto Animal Services shelter where he had been surrendered as his owner was working long hours.

Luke has lived his life before rescue in a 13th floor apartment downtown. It took him a while to figure out the backyard and he will mark in the house initially. It took about two days for him to realize this was now "home" and the marking stopped. This is a very manageable training issue.

He loves to go for walks and is relatively well behaved on leash. Pulls a bit, but not much. He is not great in a dog park as he is easy overwhelmed by lots of dogs, especially large dogs romping around. He has done fine with my pugs and my shih tzu and other small dogs he has met. He can be a bit reactive on leash if confronted face to face with another leashed dog, but this is likely a matter of socialization. He would do best in a home that isn't going to expect him to be a dog park dog and is willing to let Luke adjust and adapt over time.

He will need someone to come and let him out mid day and should not be expected to last an 8 to 10 hour day without getting out to excrete.

Luke loves all people, but can be a tad exuberant in his greetings. This is the only reason I've limited homes with children to the age of 10 and up. He has no malice in him, but still nibbles fingers and noses. It's VERY gentle, but not always welcome.

He sits nicely, can offer a paw and is very gentle taking treats.

We have crated Luke overnight only because (1) initially to limit marking and (2) it was just easier on my elderly crew not to have a younger busier dog in bed with them at night. His crate is next to my bed and he has crated beautifully. During the day when I'm out, I've gated him downstairs with my other dogs with no issues.

While he is young, his energy level is lovely. He's up for a game, but can also lie quietly in a dog bed if I'm busy. He doesn't know how to play with other dogs yet and I suspect almost all his interaction with dogs has been on leash. He appears to be somewhat limited in his play skills -- likely due to limited socialization as a puppy.

Luke continues to do very well and is now entirely free of his belly band in our house. He has been neutered, had all his blood work/fecal done. All the results are excellent and he's a healthy and a happy guy. He has fit in very well in our home and gets along with all the resident dogs and cats. He's got a delightfully happy personality with lots of love and enthusiasm, but is not a high drive or high energy guy. Yes, he can chase a ball or a squeaky bee, but he's also happy to just lie around if no action is happening.

He's not a dog park dog at this point as he is insecure around most dogs except pugs (and my shih tzu). He will need some ongoing work around gaining confidence, but he loves a good leash walk, a romp with other pugs and has adjusted to life in a house with a yard very well.

Luke (formerly Louie) came to us from the Toronto Animal Services shelter. He had been surrendered by his owner due to business travel and long hours away from home. He is 2.5 years old and a very sweet boy. So far, he's done well with everyone in the house, including the cats. He's busy, but that may be about being out of the shelter. He will need to be neutered and that has been scheduled.

He's a darker fawn colour, but full of pug personality and loves to kiss.
