Misty - Foster Update, Sept. 29th Misty has settled in very well. She is a sweet and affectionate little girl, who loves to have her belly rubbed and will tap you politely on the arm if you"forget" to keep rubbing her. She is still easily frightened by sudden movements, loud noises and strange people who come up to her rapidly, but this is improving. She has a very piercing, unpuglike bark that ends in a very puglike woowoo. Misty thinks going for a walk is GREAT and has started to run with the big dogs, bossing them mightily. She has some rear end atrophy which may be a combination of insufficient exercise and arthritis. She is on a joint supplement to be on the saafe side, but if it is arthritis, it is so far a mild case and doesn't cause her any undue problems. Misty is very good with all my dogs and is only bossy if she feels they are incroaching on HER spot on the bed--but this has been a minor issue. She does not like to surrender bullysticks or bones once she has them, but hasn't been aggressive with me about it--she just growls and runs away. I haven't pressed the issue and she will trade most of the time. She loves stuffed toys and plays like a puppy with them. A very sprightly senior girl, indeed. |
Misty - Foster Update, Sept. 9th After a very rough start to foster care, Misty has settled in and is reaping the benefits of the good life in foster care. She is eating well and hogging the pillows in the big bed. She is extremely affectionate and loves to be patted. Her bloodwork and fecal results were all good. She will likely need some dental work as her breath could knock you down, but we are going to wait before subjecting her to any more disruptions. She is a senior and isn't the fastest little girl on the planet, but really enjoys her walks. She is NOT good with cats and my ginger cat Sonny has a missing patch of fur on his butt to prove it. |
Misty - Foster Update, Sept. 3rd Misty is a very snuggly, loving older girl of 10. She is a cross with Pom or Terrier maybe dachsund? She has a longer body and nose than a true pug, but it gives her a very unique look and a charm all her own. She gets along well with my dogs and cats, but prefers to not have them in her face. She gives a very polite lip curl to tell them to back up and back off. She may have some arthritis as she is a bit gimpy, but not significantly so. She does my stairs with relative ease. She is currently happiest snuggled in my bed among the pillows. She appears to be house broken. She has her vet check on Thursday. |
Misty - Introduction, Sept 1 Misty is a 10 year old female who appears to have some mix in her judging by the protruding snout. She is a good weight and has an overall healthy appearance. She gets along with other dogs but there is some food possession in her nature. Or it may be just adjusting to a new environment. |
