Mocha - adopted August 4, 2006 |

We fostered Mocha for 15 weeks. He has a number of health issues, including seizures. It seemed destiny had plans for Mocha. He just kept missing out on adoptions. Something would always go wrong. Well, I think he was just trying to tell me that he belonged here. He had found the home he wanted to stay in. He gets along very well, with Mookie and Salvador. It was like he really belonged. We are happy to welcome him as a permanent member of our family. |
Mocha gets to stay with all his friends - thank you Candace ![]() |
Will you be Mocha's special someone? "Mocha has turned into an absolute gem. He has sparkle in his eyes and a loveable and laid back nature. It took him awhile, but he now greets people in the park. He is more affectionate at home too, jumping up for hugs and likes to give kisses. I think he was just missing his companion dog, Pillow and his old family. The true Mocha is shining through and he is a really great guy.He manages his breathing quite well, on hot days. He seems to know better than
to overexert himself and he will sit in the shade to cool off.
This is unlike my Mookie, who I have to pick up and give a "catch your breath" timeout.
Mocha would love to have a new, laid back family. One who would like to go for a
leisurely walk and play a game of tug once-in-awhile.
He would be great for someone who is home a lot and just wants a lovable and calm companion." "I want to echo what Candace has said about him...he is a WONDERFUL boy. He is very affectionate, warm and gentle...he always comes over to spend time with me now and greets me when I see him...he listens very well whenever he is called...he has a jaunty, springy walk that brings a smile to your face...he joins in for a little chase and play with my boys, Tiger and Princeton, but then he knows exactly when he needs to take a break. He is very good-natured about being held and has an incredible amount of love in his eyes. I think he is just a sweetheart and will be an outstanding friend for whomever is chosen to be his parent(s). I would also add that his new parent(s) will be very lucky to know exactly what his needs are health-wise. With very simple preventative care, his eye issues (PK) can be deal with; he seems to know when not to overexert himself and breathes much better now that he is slimmer I just have to say it again...this little boy is a CATCH!! Too bad I already have a full house of rambunctious young dogs, or I might just try to adopt him myself".Tiffany - Mocha's park companion |
Mocha Vet Update - May 30 He has two eye issues. One is dark scar tissue on the surface of the eye, called Pigmentary Keratitis. To slow the progress, it will require applying an ointment a few times a week. The second is disticia (an eyelash that grows into the eye) and that was removed. This is a condition that can happen again. Both of the eye issues will need to monitored and would require visits to the opthalmalogist 2 to 3 times a year. Mocha - Ready for Adoption Placement, May 20th Click here to see Mocha's picture resume - compiled by his foster mom Candace. Mocha has been in foster care for four weeks, now. He weighs 24 pounds and has lost 1 1/2 pounds. He just had seven teeth removed and is recovering from the procedure. Mocha's general appearance is improving, his fur has become softer and he doesn't shed as much. He is a lovely fellow, not too active, but enjoys a brief play or tug.
He loves the park or walks, but needs a slow pace. His breathing becomes a bit laboured,
if he does too much.
Mocha is a kind and gentle boy, who is good with cats and dogs.
He will be a wonderful companion for the lucky family that will be chosen to adopt him! Please feel free to submit an application if you think Mocha is right for you. If you have previously submitted an application and want to adopt Mocha send us an email at rescue@pugalug.com |
Mocha - Foster Update, April 26 Mocha has been here for one week. Last Friday, I took_Mocha to the vet. The wellness blood work was all normal. His teeth are in bad shape. Some teeth are almost sideways and the tartar is really bad. He will have to get some removed and the tartar cleaned off. I opted to split his vaccinations and he was given only the rabies shot. We got home and I realized his tongue was white and his breath very shallow. He collapsed and couldn't move. Luckily, I got him back to the vet before they left for the night. They gave him oxygen and a shot of antihistamine and steroids. They bundled him up, because he was in shock. He very slowly came around. It was such a scary experience. He will have to be pre-treated with an antihistamine and watched very closely for any future vaccinations. The rest of the week has gone very well. Mocha is a playful boy, but soon runs out of breath and lays down for a break. He is very sociable, but got a bit overwhelmed at the Flower Power Pugalug. We are trying to get him trimmed down a bit and see if this helps his breathing. After a few weeks, he will have his teeth cleaned and the really bad ones, removed. His foster mom, |

Mocha - Introduction, April 18 Mocha is 6 years old. He came from a loving family that had to surrender him because of their young daughter's severe allergies. He became part of their family five years and was in a different home for the first year of his life. He is adjusting to his foster home, with the help of his foster brothers Salvador and Mookie. Mocha is a good natured boy, who likes other dogs and gets along well with children and cats. He thoroughly enjoys a good belly and chest rub. Mocha has not had any major health problems. He will be going for a general check-up and micro-chipping, on Friday. He had a restless first night but is starting to get used to his new surrondings and friends. And he really enjoyed his first dinner and is quite open to getting rubs and hugs from his foster mom. |
