Peanut adopted July 6 Peanut has settled in nicely with his pug parents Jennifer and Chris and his new pug sister Olive. You may have met Olive at the admissions table at one of our indoor pugalugs. Now she and Peanut romp, play and snuggle together. |

Foster Update - June 9th First of all Peanut is perfect....He is an absolutely beautiful pug. He looks to be a perfect weight for his size. In addition, his fur is so soft you just have to pet him all the time.He ignores my really old dogs and he attempts to play with Jaden all the time (sometimes she even plays with him back). He has had the run of the house since he got here and there have only been a couple of accidents so far. I think he was actually making a statement rather than having an "accident" though. We will continue to monitor this. The only other challenge that we have had with him so far is that he does not appear to like men....he is not aggressive towards them but rather afraid. At feeding time he is like all pugs...very hungry. He does not however try to steal food from the other dogs and does not guard his food. He is getting along very well with my 3 year old daughter and also seems to enjoy the baby. Although he is young, he is not hyper at all...but does like to play. As the weather has been so warm since he got here we have not gone for a long walk yet. As soon as the weather is a bit cooler, we will be taking him to the park. His previous owner reported that he had separation anxiety and he does. When I leave he cries for a few minutes but he does calm down quickly. It may help that he has other dogs here for company. He also came with a favourite toy and he has been playing with that quite a bit. Peanut also has a whole repertoire of tricks that he does...he can sit, lie down, dance, sing, give a high five and play hide and seek. When he arrived on Saturday he was kind of shy but came around quickly, the longer he is here the more his personality is coming out and he is not shy here anymore. He is going to the vet tomorrow to be examined and to get his vaccinations and microchip. I don't think that he will have any issues at the vet. As I am writing this he is on my lap (and he keeps jumping in to the shower with me every day). |
