Penelope (Penny) 9 or 10 year old female |
|
Adopter Update - Oct 6 Penny is doing wonderfully! We all love her dearly. We walk three times a day, as both Penny and I love to walk. She sleeps very well and she has lots of energy! Penny stays with my mom-in-law until John or I get home from work. What a reception! I thought she was going to have a heart attack the first time I got home, but it really isn't getting to much better. She misses her loved ones deeply.Well she goes with us all the time, unless it's food shopping and then she can't, but we try to take her everywhere.
My extended family loves her and Otis (her son's pug) is quite taken with her as well as my nieces!
She has fit in well and she is very much a member of the family. |
Adopted - Sept 7 Penelope's new family came today. Janet and John, along with John's mother, Gwen will be Penny's new family. Janet and John's daughter, Kim came along to meet Penny. They were very glad to finally meet Penny, face to face. It was a touching good-bye, as they know how much Penny has touched our hearts, especially my daughter's. We are sure that Penny will be well loved and that she will enrich their lives beyond their expectations. She is a very special, little girl. We will get an update on how she is doing, in the next week. We'll miss you Penns. |

Adopter Requirements Penny is a very petite, little girl. It's hard to believe that she is 9 or 10 years old. She is bright and full of life. Her spay and dental were only a week ago and she is frolicking in the park, already. If anyone comes to the gate, she is there to greet them, animal or human. She has never had an accident and is completely toilet trained. She is full of affection and loves to cuddle or sleep close to you. Penny bonds closely. She will be ready to give her heart to her new owner. That all important person, should be there most of the time. Penny is okay to be left with other people or her foster pug brothers, but she seems to focus on one important person. She is her happiest, when that someone is there for her to follow around and give kisses to. We are not sure what her mix is, but she certainly got all the best traits from both sides! There has been quite a change, from the scared, cowering little stray. She has had quite a time,
being in a shelter for a couple of weeks and transported from Montreal, to another shelter,
before arriving in her foster home. It took a couple of days, before she could eat or hold down any food.
Through it all, her little tail continued to wag. Just scroll down and see her picture, when she first came. |
Foster Update - July 22nd Penelope went in for her spay, hernia repair, microchip, and dental. She had most of her teeth removed. The remaining 9 or 10 are nice and clean. The staff were all singing Penny's praises about how sociable, adorable and pretty well perfect, she is!She is doing well and was nice and perky, when I picked her up. She went to find my daughter,
the moment I set her down. I found Penny smothering my daughter with kisses. Then, she curled up and went to sleep.
After some time to recover, she just need her rabies vaccination and she will be ready for adoption. |

Foster Update - July 11th Penny is settling in. After her initial excitement of coming to our home, she slept almost all the time. he also, threw up quite a lot and couldn't eat. Thankfully, that has ended and she is eating and wagging her little tail. She is completely toilet trained and has not had a single accident, even when it was raining! Her initial check-up was very good. The vet feels she is more likely 9 or 10 years old. Her bloodwork was very good. The white cell count was high, most likely from her rotten teeth. One liver test was elevated, but not bad for an older dog. She should have her bloodwork rechecked, in 6 months. It will probably improve, once she has her dental and gets on a healthy diet. All her other tests, including heartworm, were good. She weighs a touch over 12 pounds and is a dainty little girl. We will give her a little more adjustment time and then schedule her spay and dental. She is just adorable and a wonderful cuddly girl. She is not a barker. |

Introduction - July 8th Penelope was a stray that was picked up by the SPCA in Montreal. There is little known about her. She appears to be somewhere around 7 or 8, probably has had multiple litters and is a Pug mix with possibly Shih Tzu.Penelope or Penny, is a sweet natured, lively, little girl. We just picked her up a couple of hours ago and she has used the yard to do her business and been friendly with people, the pugs and my cat. She has an appointment for a check up, tomorrow. We are anticipating that she will need to be spayed and get dental work. Fostermom,Candace |
