Piper - 2 year old male |
![]() |
Adopted, July 10, 2009 Its been a long road for Piper but he has found an absolutely wonderful forever home with experienced pug owners Catherine, Mary and Cedric. They recently lost their beloved Smudge and are looking forward to many walks and games of tug with this handsome young man. Piper is a lucky boy! Unfortunately Piper's first adoption has fallen through due to conflict with the adopter's dog. Piper is insecure and needs plenty of attention and reassurance. He suffers from separation anxiety but does not like to be crated as he spent a lot of time there in his previous home. Until he is settled into his forever home he should be allowed access to his crate but not confined to it. He needs the company of humans and especially to sleep in bed with his people. He is fairly highly strung and active at times, extremely cuddly other times. He is sweet and loving and has the potential to be a wonderful dog, but needs patience and consistent training. He knows the commands sit and lay down and comes when called but needs to learn some rules about jumping on tables and snatching human food. He displays barrier frustration (scratching at closed doors) but is improving, with time. I am confident that once he is bonded he will make a wonderful companion in his forever home. You must be willing to work through the transition. He is not a big barker but will cry and howl when left alone so a detached home is preferable. If he lives with another male dog, he should be a tolerant friendly playmate to growl and play tug with. Piper is gentle, lovable, goofy and playful. Really he is a giant puppy. He loves to fetch and run and play tug. He is extremely polite waiting for his food and is not food-aggressive, is house trained and affectionate. He will need some help with rules, like jumping on laps and a bit of focus training for walking on the lead. |
