Brody - 4 Year old Male
Happy Tails

Happy Tails, August 3, 2016

I can't believe that it's only been a couple of weeks since Brody came home with us as it feels likes he's been with us for a long while. He has settled in amazingly and is always by my side. He and our slightly older male pug both sleep by me and the two of them just get along so well and seem to love each other already. His fur brother loves to kiss him with licks and Brody seems to enjoy it and sometime returns the love (LOL!). They play well together and Brody quickly adjusted to his fur brother's sometimes crazy play style.

Brody is such a gentle soul. He definitely loves and is motivated by food and treats. If I have something in my hand that he knows is for him, he will run and trip all over the stairs ahead of me as I head upstairs to give it to him.

Brody is very smart and listens well when he wants to - we are working on that! He has also learned to take his treats gently as he was quite rough initially. That is also a bit of a work in progress, but I have so much faith in him. All of our friends and neighbours are also so fond of him when we take our walks through the neighbourhood.

We are so happy that Brody has joined our family and can't even imagine what it was like without him. Thanks you so much to everyone at Pugalug for matching us with this special little guy.

Adopted

Brody is a happy, energetic and playful 4 year old Pug/Jack Russell cross. He is very observant and loves going on long hikes. He needs a lot of exercise.

He tends to be nervous in new situations and around new people. Brody settled right in when he comes with me to work everyday. He has recently engaged in play with his foster brother but is still a bit shy about it.

Brody follows his people everywhere in true pug fashion. He can be a bit rough when taking a treat so would have to be careful around younger children.

Brody is a cuddly guy. He loves to sit on your lap and cuddle in bed. It is so cute when he rests his head on you. He hates water and does not like the bath.

He is a fabulous guy and will be a wonderful addition for his new forever home.

Foster Update, April 4, 2016

Brody has been with Pugalug for a few weeks now and has really settled into his foster life. Recently, Brody went to the vet for his health check and passed with flying colours! He has become much more sociable and will now wander around the office to visit everyone. He is still a little wary of new people and will bark when unsure. It's something that his adoptive family will need to continue working on. However, once he knows you, Brody loves getting attention and is a great snuggler, especially in bed. In fact, he loves bed so much that he will sleep as long as you do!

In true Jack Russell fashion, Brody has a tendency not to drink water (perhaps he forgets LOL!) so I make sure to water to his food to keep him from dehydrating. However, like his fellow pug brethren, Brody hates the cold and was shivering in the recent snowfall He also isn't a fan of getting his paws wet either (water is toxic, you know!). Although he does enjoy a good game of fetch, he isn't obsessive and will happily stop when you do. And when he doesn't have something to chase after, he makes his own fun by chasing his tail! LOL! He does have a habit of trying to bite my hand when playing though so we are working on that. He's a quick study and is already able to obey the commands sit, stay and come. Due to his many trips to and from work, Brody has become quite used to riding in the car and is a very good passenger. In short, Brody is a fabulous little guy in all aspects and he will be ready for adoption very soon!

Brody

Introduction, March 20, 2016

Brody is a 3 year old, neutered boy who came into Pugalug about a week ago as an owner surrender. Even though Brody is a Pug/Jack Russell Terrier mix, he has a fawn body and black mask with the cutest elongated snout and underbite. Every so often, his canines will stick out, which is just adorable! One huge benefit of Brody's snout is that his forever home will not need to worry about the breathing issues normally associated with pugs nor will they have to clean his wrinkles. Brody weighs at 30lbs, which is a little bigger than your average Pug or Jack Russell. However, he is clearly a mix of both breeds. For instance, he has the lovable nature of a Pug with the intelligence and increased activity level of a Jack. He loves to sit on your knee and cuddle at night in the big bed, but also thoroughly enjoys his walks and has been on a couple of long hikes already. His forever home will need to be dedicated to keeping him exercised as he requires more than your average pug. However, he is not as energetic as a Jack, which makes him great for a family that loves pugs, but wants a more active dog.

When Brody arrived in foster care, it was immediately apparent that Brody had been taken care of and well-loved by his previous owners. Although he was very nervous at first, he settled in very quickly, making himself right at home and jumping quickly into the big bed. Brody is fully house trained, but he won't bark so you do need to watch if he goes to the door. In general, Brody is a pretty mellow guy. He likes to play with his toys and sometimes will try to hump his bed. Initially, Brody was nervous of his big foster brother, but they are fine now, although he is still a bit wary to play with him and will hide behind me. I am lucky to have Brody accompany me to work and he stays right by my side, following me wherever I go. I have noticed that he tends to be a little nervous of new people and will bark at them when they come into the office. Fortunately, he doesn't take long to warm up and we are working on the barking. He does tend to jump up when he greets you or thinks that you have a treat, but we are working on that as well. Tonight he had a case of the pug zoomies, running back and forth in the backyard. He is just a sweetheart and a real gem.
