Pugsley's off to his new home He greeted his new family with plenty of kisses. Before heading off he checked out Maryanne's lap and Bill's chin scratching abilities. Both passed the Pug Seal of Approval. |

Pugsley had his vet examination, heartworm test and vaccinations. This was followed later with his neutering
and micro chip. Everything went very well and Pugsley has bounced back quickly.
Pugsley is the sweetest boy, so loving & cuddly - a real charmer. Pugsley has settled in like he owns the place. He would like to be the boss although Bugzy is firmly of the view that Pugsley has second place status at best and for the most part Pugsley accepts this fate. Pugsley will just swing his hip into Bugzy or Sophie knocking them out of the way in an attempt to be first - to get fed, treats, a cuddle, or to give a kiss - Pugsley would love to be numero uno. It seems to be a behaviour developed from being lonely and / or ignored. The longer he is with us the more he charms everyone and the more he is relaxing and accepting of not getting everything first and understanding he will still get his share. He is also not marking anymore - with no real effort that seems to have stopped - just frequent walks and lots of attention. Pugsley loves to be outside and to go for walks. He will pull sometimes when on leash but not excessively. Pugsley would be Ok with another dog or as a single dog if someone is home a fair bit. He needs to be close... to get lots of attention - he craves it - not in a mean or difficult way but you can tell for him to be happy he needs to be close - to snuggle. This is not a dog for someone who does not want to be laid on or kissed frequently. |

Foster Update, Oct 21st I've tried to get a few photos but Pugsley keeps on the move. Here are a couple. The one is with Pugsley in the foreground and Bugzy.Vet's office called this morning - Pugsley is healthy as a little tick... no problems with his blood work, no signs of heart worm and all the organ function tests were good - no issues with the vaccinations either. The neutering surgery is on for the 2nd. The vet will be examining his teeth for tartar but did not think there was too much of a build up. I will be working at getting some of it before then. He may be a little older than 3 given the grey in his muzzle. He does not have a microchip and that will be done when he is in for his "procedure". Beyond that he is an extremely cuddly affectionate pug almost taking your whole face in his mouth he gets so excited to give kisses & kind of flings himself at you to snuggle. I am working on reducing that as he may scare someone but he means well he's just enthusiastic!! He is real a honey. |

Pugsley - Introduction, Oct. 15 Pugsley is a 3 year old male who was surrendered to us by a person who had him for 15 months. His history previous to that is unknown. He reportedly has marking issue in the house. He was secheduled to go to a shelter when the person was told of pug rescue. Our foster parent picked up Pugsley at his temporary home in Scarborough and sent this update: Just got home with "Pugsley" ..... He is a nice sized fawn pug. Was overweight until recently according to surrender, they reduced his intake & he is now maybe a couple of pounds over but not supersized by any means. He is still a bit stressed at present doing lots of panting but very affectionate and sweet. He was kissing my son the whole way home. There were no intro issues between my two & Pugsley but he has tried to do some marking in spite of having just been outside. Some may be just the newness of it all - and he stops as soon as you say no - so hopefully things will improve there. I stopped and picked up a harness for him as he only had a collar and even in that short time it was obvious he is a "tugger" on leash. Pugsley is intact. He has bad breath & ears are a bit dirty but beyond that is nice looking puggie". |
