Roscoe and his new buddy Jett

Roscoe, a 2 ½ year old male, came to us through the kindness and generosity of Puganthropist Dorothy Jones. She rescued him and then called me to find him a good home. When he came to me he was only 14 lbs. and his coat was mottled in places from dietary deficiency. However there was a spark in those eyes that said - "Give me a chance and I can show you how good I can be". Well he got his chance and more. And the laughter he gave me in return I will cherish forever. In the month that I fostered him he filled out and his energy level increased. A daily dose of high grade salmon oil brought his coat back to a glistening shine. He just loved everything that life showed him. He was playful with other dogs, cats and children. I suspect he must have been crated a fair bit of his life and he was just glad to have the freedom to move around outside. When he was adoption ready, Cathy, or Placement Group Leader, sent me a fair number of suitable applications. The one I chose had 2 children and another small dog (Shi-poo). We went into the backyard first to meet on neutral territory. But my fears were groundless. Roscoe sniffed around for a bit and then Jett, the Shi-poo came bounding out of the house already to play. They ran around and around for 10 minutes chasing each other. The children gave the dogs time to get acquainted and then they started to bond with Roscoe. As I left I knew Roscoe would get all the love and attention he missed out on. Before I went through the door I turned to have one last look and saw that little pug butt wagging away. Foster Update, February 20 Roscoe has adjusted easily to the my family. He gets along with other dogs, happily joining in a chase or tug. His vet checkup was fine and the blood and fecal tests came back okay. He has an odd way of resting on the floor - with his hind legs spread out along side him. Dr. Usher called this the frog position. He has seen it in other pugs and does not indicated problems with the hips or legs - just a comfortable resting position. |

Roscoe - Introduction, February 12, 2006 Rosoce, originally from Peterborough, came to us via a Pug Angel in Mississauga. She saw an advertisement for a 1 year old pug for sale. Fearing he might end up in an unchecked household, she managed to obtain Roscoe and then surrended him to Pugaalug Pug Rescue. He is a lively, energetic little guy; a few pounds underweight, but a sparkle in his eye and no apparent health problems |
