Tate - adopted April 21, 2006 |

Tate went to his new home in Niagara Falls today. He will be living with Brenda and John who have been waiting on the rescue list for two years for a pug. They had a little black girl Stevie, who was born blind and lived with them for ten years before passing away two years ago. Tate did many pugtonas around the backyard, completely baffling his two new golden retriever brothers, Sam and Jake. He also has two cat siblings who thought he was weird, but harmless. He settled in well and tried desperately to get the younger cat, Nipper, to play with him. His new mom works in a nursing home and hopes to bring Tate to work with her when he has settled in. He will get much love and snuggles with Brenda and John. He gave their home a thorough sniff, peed on many of the backyard bushes and declared their house a pug safe zone. |

Tate - Foster Update- April 12 Well our little Tate was quite the celebrity in the Beaches area of Toronto last week. He was the featured rescue dog in Marna Gayle's column in the Beach Metro News. We got a lot of calls from good hearted people who wanted to give this little guy a place to rest his weary head (weary after a day of playing with the cat, running with his toys and philosphizing with Bob and Pete). Tate has been adopted. He will be going to his new home the weekend of the 22nd. We will write up his story in the Happy Tails section and add some photos of his new family Tate - Foster Update- April 5 Tate's foster noticed something unusual with his pupil. It wasn't contracting in the sunlight. So Tate has been to see the specialist for tests to determine what could be the problem. One pupil doesn't contract and the other doesn't dialate. He was given both an ERG and Ultrasound but the results came back normal. So it may be a congenital defect. He is on eye medication right now. Otherwise our little Tate is a bouncy, hungry and lovable little boy. He will be monitored over the next couple of weeks to see how his condition goes. |
Tate - Foster Update- March 24 Tate went through his neutering with flying colours. He is recuperating at home, playing with his toys and milking all the attention. |
Tate - Foster Update- March 14 The 3 year old black boy came to my house for foster care and we renamed him Tate. He was Pugsly, but it didn't suit and since I was calling him Little Man anyway, my son suggested Tate and it fit.He has done very well for an unneutered male--has only tried to mark in the house once and isn't umping anyone but our 19 month old cat who thinks it is all good fun. He is quite bright--we were able to teach him "sit" in less than 24 hours. He is HIGHLY active and can get quite anxious if he is alone so I think separation anxiety will be an issue for this boy. He has good manners however, and isn't a pest--just always under your feet. He loves to cuddle and sleeps as close to you as he can get. He has a hilariously squeaky little bark. The vet visit went well. Tate will be scheduled next week for his neutering. |
Rescue Report - March 11, 2006 We had made arrangements with the Pug Rescue Network in Detroit to pickup Princeton and bring him into our foster/adoption care. On the day of the pickup, I got a call asking if we could take a 2nd pug - the more the merrier I said. |
