Gone to his forever home - Feb 21

I have fallen head over heals in love with this little boy! He is so beautiful and charming. He has also turned into a real "momma's boy!" When he can't see me he runs into the room to check to make sure I'm still there. He had a bit of anxiety yesterday when my neighbour was holding his leash when I went into my room to get something. He started crying. Poor guy. He scratches at the door and howls when I leave! I've spoken to all my neighbours to make sure they are aware that he's new to me. I've spent a great deal of time with him snuggling, playing and walking.

I'm trying to give him tons of attention to show him that he belongs here. He's had an opportunity to meet the other pugs in the building and they got along really well. I love that his "forever home" comes with playmates! He's such a smart little guy. Yesterday he learnt how to lie down. I think the treats helped a little bit! I had a great laugh when he stole my roommate's shoe yesterday and paraded around the apartment while she chased him! He thought that was great fun. I crack up every time he bites his tail and spins in circles then starts going the other direction to unwind! I think we are a great match. He makes me laugh and keeps me active and I give him love and attention.

Update: Feb 5

I cannot believe how much Vincent has settled in. He still has his crazy play times and chews on lots of things, but he is just a pup. The nipping has become almost non-existant. He has to get really excited for that to happen. He use to start nipping at me, when I got home, etc. That does not happen at all. I am very proud of how well he has learned that it isn't appropriate. Even if he starts to do it, he will listen to my commands and settle down. He is a busy boy, who loves to find something new to pull off a shelf or chew on. That is pretty common in a dog his age and he will get better. He is also a very loveable pup, who loves to cuddle.

Vincent has a clean bill of health. He is micro chipped and received his 3 yr. rabies vaccination. He just needs his DHPP vaccination before he goes to his forever home.

Vincent will need a family that has time to give him lots of play opportunities. He loves his squeaky bone and will fetch and retrieve over and over and over again! He gets very excited and will mouth your hands and feet. He doesn't mean to hurt, but his teeth are sharp. We are working on correcting this behaviour and he is doing much better. This is one reason why his living with young children is not a good idea.

He has been around a couple of small children and received pats and hugs very appropriately, but it was at a time when he wasn't in play mode. Vincent is too active for my older pugs and would do well being with a dog that will happily play with him. He is still very respectful towards my elderly cat.

One of his favourite things is to collect the shoes. He doesn't seem to chew on them, but likes to carry them around. Even though, he hasn't ruined any shoes, he does like to chew and will need a household that is careful about what is left out for his safety, as well.

Vince is a sweet natured boy, who loves to cuddle on your lap. I would think that his new family will fall in love with him in a heartbeat!

Cuddley Vincent

Introduction - Dec 30

Vincent is an owner surrender. His owner has been hospitalized for some time and a neighbour has been giving some basic care. It is not possible for him to remain in this situation and he came to us. Vincent is a pug mix, most likely a Jack Russell/pug mix or Jug. He may be suffering from separation anxiety from being left alone so much. We won't know if this is temporary until he has been assessed for some time.

Vincent is 11 months old, appears very healthy and is up-to-date on his vaccinations and is neutered. After we receive his vet records, we will have him microchipped and a general exam. He should be ready to go fairly quickly.

After him being here a few hours, we find him to be very affecionate, a playful puppy, but well behaved. He met my cat and just sniffed her. She gave him her usual, "I'm the boss here" look and he backed right off. Seems to be a real sweetheart of a dog!
